在英语中，before是一个非经常见的介词。它可以独立使用，也可以与其他单词组合使用。在英语的课程学习中，我们也经常会遇到这个单词。那么，before的用法有哪些呢？
一. 示意时间
1. before 用作副词示意时间，意思是“之前，以前”，常放在句首，后面跟时间状语。
例如： He has never been to Guangzhou before. （他以前没去过广州。）
2. before 也可以用来示意对照的先后顺序，这时常用于对照级前。
例如：The weather is warmer than before.（天气比以前温暖。）
二. 示意顺序
1. before 后面跟名词，示意“某事之前”。
例如： We must finish the work before noon.（我们必须在中午前完成这项事情。）
2. before that 示意“在那之前，此前”。
例如： The company I used to work for went bankrupt before that.（我曾服务的公司在那之前歇业了。）
三. 示意水平
before 用作副词示意水平，意思是“更，加倍”，示意某个水平或者水平上的变化。
例如： He spoke calmly before, but he seems more anxious now.（他之前讲话很镇静，但现在似乎更焦虑了。）
四. 示意对照
before 也可以用来示意对照，示意“优于，胜于”。
例如：I would leave the job if I could find a position before this one.（若是能找到此岗位之前的一个事情，我会告退的。）
五. 示意顺序
before 用于组成词组 before and after，示意“在前，在后”，示意事情的顺序。

before 用于放在时间副词或时间短语后面，用于强调先于其他事情。
